As a reminder, this resource was put together by the Help Us Understand Grief (H.U.U.G.) Program at Heart House Hospice in collaboration with the Children and Youth Grief Network. This Toolkit is an initiative to help educators feel more comfortable addressing concepts of death and grief within the school setting. It includes an outline of death education, lesson plans, tip sheets, and resource lists that compliment Ontario curriculum standards for grades 4-10. The Children and Youth Grief Network believes strongly that supporting grieving students needs to extend beyond just "checking in" after someone has died. We hope that this toolkit will support educators and administrators to incorporate lessons about death and grief into classroom discussions.
To learn more about who is using this Toolkit and the impact this resource is having on their work, we have created a short survey for all requesters. We will be sending this survey to you via email in the next 3 months and hope that you will assist us by taking the time to fill it out.
